Diwali or Dipavali is a significant 5-day festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism occurring between mid October and mid November. It is also popularly know as the Festival of Lights. Diwali is an official holiday in India, Guyana, Trinibad & Tobago, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore and Fiji.

Thai Pongal is a harvest festival widely celebrated by Tamils in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu and in Sri Lanka. Pongal coincides with the festival Makara Sankranthi celebrated throughout Inida. Pongal in Tamil means Boiling over or spill over.
